Biography

Giuseppe Sciascia is the DG REFORM Policy Coordinator for the EU-Supervisory Digital Finance Academy (EU-SDFA). Since 2021, Giuseppe works as Policy Officer at the European Commission – DG REFORM, where he manages technical support projects for the financial sector in areas such as digitalization, consumer protection, insurance & pensions supervision, and ESG risks. Before joining the Commission, he worked as Bank Resolution Expert at the Single Resolution Board (Brussels) and as Banking Supervisor at Banca d’Italia (Rome). Giuseppe holds a Ph.D. in Public Economic Law (Università Sapienza) and a LL.M. in Banking and Finance (Queen Mary University of London). He has been Visiting Research Fellow at Cornell University (2018), and contract professor in Public Finance at the University of Naples (2017-2019). He is a qualified lawyer and Economic Law associate professor. His research interests and publications cover macroprudential policy, bank resolution, financial supervision, and EU accountability.
